We are looking for an experienced Web Developer as an ongoing subcontractor.

With your expertise in WordPress development, you will have the ability to take any Figma design and turn it into a fully responsive, high-performing WordPress site.

A strong portfolio demonstrating custom WordPress builds, responsive design work, and advanced use of page builders (e.g., WPBakery, Gutenberg, Elementor) is essential.

The role also involves leveraging Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, MidJourney, etc.) to streamline coding, content creation, and design workflows. Awareness of the trade industry and its unique digital requirements will be considered a plus.

Who you are:

Minimum 5 years of professional web development experience with a strong focus on WordPress.

Demonstrated ability to deliver responsive WordPress websites from Figma designs.

A strong portfolio showcasing WordPress builds, responsive design projects, and theme customisation.

Experience with WordPress page builders (WPBakery, Gutenberg, Elementor).

Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.

Proficiency in using Generative AI tools for development, content, and design workflows.

Familiarity with SEO optimisation and website performance improvements.

Experience with WordPress security, maintenance, and updates.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.

Good communication and collaboration skills.

Awareness of the trade industry and its digital needs is an advantage.

Working from home setup with computer and relevant software programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with JavaScript and PHP for advanced customisation.

Familiarity with Git/version control.

Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and ARIA implementation.

Experience with Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and tracking integrations.

Creativity in applying AI-driven solutions for automation, design, and development efficiency.

What you’ll do:

Build, customise, and maintain WordPress websites to a high professional standard.

Convert Figma/Adobe XD/Photoshop mockups into fully responsive websites.

Develop and customise WordPress themes and plugins as required.

Use WordPress page builders (WPBakery, Gutenberg, Elementor) for efficient project delivery.

Ensure websites are optimised for performance, SEO, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues including bugs, plugin conflicts, and security vulnerabilities.

Apply Generative AI tools to:

Assist with coding and debugging.

Speed up content creation and editing.

Generate creative design/layout variations.

Automate repetitive development tasks.

Collaborate with designers, content creators, and marketing teams to deliver project goals.

Follow best practices in web development, including clean code and version control (Git).
