We are a small, 39-place boutique childcare centre with a big heart. Open for 4.5 years, we’ve built a strong reputation in our community through exceptional teaching, warm relationships, and a genuine love for every child’s growth. Supported wholeheartedly by the owner—physically and financially—our dedicated team thrives on collaboration, passion, and a shared commitment to families.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated, capable, and community-focused Centre Director to lead our team, uphold our high standards, and drive our centre’s continued success. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends sound business operations, strong family engagement, and robust compliance.
Key responsibilities
Drive daily centre operations, including enrolments, scheduling, budgeting, rostering, and resource management
Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards (e.g., education, health and safety, privacy, and licensing)
Foster a warm, inclusive, and collaborative culture for children, families, and staff
Build and maintain strong relationships with families; communicate effectively about programmes, child development, and centre news
Manage quality improvement plans, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development for the team
Lead marketing and family engagement initiatives to maintain strong word-of-mouth referrals
Oversee safety protocols, risk management, and incident reporting
Collaborate with the owner to ensure the centre’s financial health and strategic direction
What we’re looking for
A relevant Early Childhood qualification (e.g., Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent)
Demonstrated leadership experience in an early childhood setting (minimum 2–3 years preferred)
Strong knowledge of early learning frameworks, developmental milestones, and child safety regulations
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to engage families and staff with empathy and professionalism
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities; financial literacy and budget management considered an asset
Commitment to quality education, inclusivity, and a nurturing, family-centered approach
Ability to lead by example, coach teams, and foster a positive, collaborative work environment
What we offer
A supportive, close-knit leadership team with strong backing from the owner
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Generous professional development opportunities
Flexible, family-friendly work environment
A well-resourced centre with a passionate, dedicated team
Positive community reputation and strong word-of-mouth from families
