This is an applied economics role with real-world impact. You will lead a team focused on improving pricing and market design for disability supports, working within one of Australia’s largest and most complex public systems. The work involves applying economic theory, modelling and data analysis to inform national policy. The role is available in Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne with flexible hybrid arrangements.

Who You Are

You are an economist or econometrician with experience in applied policy, pricing or market analysis. You are comfortable working with large datasets and economic frameworks, and can turn complexity into clear, actionable advice. You have experience leading small teams and contributing to multidisciplinary work. Familiarity with human services or the care economy is highly desirable.

Ideally, you have:

Postgraduate qualifications in economics, econometrics or a related field

Technical capability with software such as R, Python, Stata or SAS

Experience in regulatory economics, market stewardship or public pricing

Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to advise non-technical audiences

Key Duties

Lead economic and pricing analysis projects focused on care markets and service delivery

Build models to understand market dynamics and provider behaviour

Design and assess pilot studies to test pricing and policy interventions

Translate quantitative insights into clear policy and pricing recommendations

Contribute to annual pricing reviews and long-term market strategy
