Gabriel Saunders is seeking an experienced Stylist to join our styling team in Fitzroy. This is a unique role, leading and organising the styling of multiple projects for both virtual and real life projects.
The ideal applicant with have experience in interior or photography styling, love to explore different styles, juggle numerous projects and want to continue to grow and develop their expertise.
As a design enthusiast, you will enjoy working in a team and using your innate attention to detail to preempt and identify solutions to challenging and diverse briefs. You are inspired by establishing and leading a project vision and bringing it to life. You will take great pride in working with some of the world’s leading architecture, interior design and branding firms to produce beautiful work.

THE POSITION
The successful candidate will exhibit a strong design aesthetic and interior design expertise, working on an enviable pipeline of projects across a variety of industries. The Stylist is responsible for creating compelling and innovative design concepts and visual return briefs that align with the client’s brief and GS standards. This role collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of styling projects, while continuously seeking out new references and industry trends.
There are five primary accountabilities for this role:
Research and Concept Development & Return Brief Concept Creation
Develop compelling concept & creative exploration presentations and interior look options that align with client requirements, studio aesthetic, spatial constraints and timelines.
Style & Curate Environments
Work closely with the studio team to bring approved concepts to life, styling virtual and real-world environments according to the approved concept and studio and client expectations. Understand and accurately specify and analyse real-world styling elements.
Quality Assurance
Conduct thorough quality checks at each milestone to ensure that the visualizations meet GS standards and client expectations, ensuring styling items specified are correctly represented in the final project. Provide justification of styling decisions and take responsibility for final sign off process.
Industry Networking & Trend Research
Conduct regular research, reviewing relevant printed media and digital channels to maintain a finger on the pulse of emerging artists, designers, national and international design trends. Maintain relationships with key suppliers, galleries and designers in order to leverage industry connections and contribute to the studio’s growth.
Project Planning, Execution, and Milestone Management
Actively manage project planning and progress against agreed project milestones to ensure projects are delivered within agreed timelines. Follow GS processes to ensure clear communication with project teams.
The skills and experience the ideal candidate will bring to the role:
• Portfolio required
• At least three year experience in Interior or Photography styling
• The ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design drawing sets including FF&E schedules and material specifications
• The capacity to transform concepts from ideas into implementation
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Motivation to produce great, detailed work
• The ability to create concept presentations encompassing mood boards, reference and furniture/props that respond to the client brief
• A research mentality and understanding of various demographics, aesthetics and styles
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
• An inquisitive spirit
• A valid drivers license (and car is a bonus)
