The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified and experienced WHS professional to step into a dynamic APS6 WHS Officer role within a dedicated and expert team. This full-time role offers flexible work arrangements and the chance to make a tangible impact on workplace health and safety. You will provide expert advice, drive compliance, lead incident investigations, deliver training, and help shape a positive safety culture.

You’ll work on complex WHS issues across national and international workplaces, combining policy, operational, and advisory work with a focus on continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement. With long-term contract potential and hybrid working options, this role is ideal for a WHS specialist looking to make a real impact in a purpose-driven organisation.

The Role

As the WHS Officer you will:

• Provide expert policy, technical and operational advice on complex WHS matters
• Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, frameworks, and policies
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and hazards
• Consult and engage with stakeholders across the organisation to manage WHS issues
• Develop and deliver WHS awareness campaigns, guidance materials, and staff briefings
• Embed WHS requirements in departmental systems and procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve WHS processes and practices

The Ideal Person

You are a highly capable WHS practitioner with at least five years' experience, ideally gained in a large, complex environment. You’re comfortable interpreting legislation and frameworks, and have a deep understanding of WHS obligations, with the ability to translate that knowledge into practical solutions. Your natural communication skills allow you to build rapport, influence outcomes, and resolve conflict when required.

With a proactive, improvement-focused mindset, you’re ready to contribute meaningfully to a culture of safety and wellbeing. You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, sound judgement, and a track record of successful WHS program delivery.

A Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (or equivalent) is essential.

Salary / Rate

• $98k - $111k per year plus super
• 6 – 12 Month non ongoing opportunity
• S26 Transfer available
