We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic General Hands to join our Parks team in maintaining our parks, gardens, ovals, playgrounds and other public open spaces for the enjoyment of our community. You will have opportunity to move across different teams to work in all aspects of parks, gardens and reserves maintenance.
The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. As General Hand Parks you will perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of our public open spaces, playgrounds and parks, including:
• Gardening, reticulation and turf management
• Spraying, weed control, and fertilising
• Safe operation of plant and machinery
• Litter pickups
This is a physically demanding role, so you must have a good degree of physical fitness and a fondness for hard work. You will work across a range of environments including high-profile parks and sporting fields, playground and rural reserves and will be supported with quality equipment to get things done.

• Full time, 9-day fortnight – alternate Friday RDO
• Base annual salary between $63,726 - $69,871 per annum dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications
• Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of 92c per hour on all worked hours and paid leave (up to $1,719 per annum)
• Annual leave loading of 17.5%
• Up to 14% Shire superannuation contribution

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
• Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shire’s HEART of: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
• Experience in maintenance of parks, gardens or other infrastructure
• Skills and/or qualifications in Horticulture or relevant field
• Construction Safety Awareness Certificate (White Card)
• C-Class Drivers Licence
Demonstrated experience in the use of ride-on lawnmowers will be highly regarded. Qualifications and experience in traffic management, chemical safety and chainsaw operation, and an MR/HR licence would be advantageous.
