Are you passionate about education and dedicated to empowering the next generation of learners? Berengarra School is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Education Support\Teaching Assistant to join our team.
About the role:
The main role of the Education Support\Teaching Assistant will be to support effective student engagement in learning, provide encouragement and guidance to reach target goals in school.
We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with staff while developing positive and enriching relationship with the student. A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a knowledge of educational and learning principles and demonstrate an understanding in providing care and support to students with learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to assist in preparation and implementation of lessons, ensuring an effective learning experience.
Student Assistance: Provide individualised support to students with specific learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, mental health issues and social\emotional disability.
Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a well-organised and conducive learning environment, promoting positive behaviour and student engagement.
Communication: Establish open and effective communication with both students and parents, fostering a strong partnership between the school and families.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Certificate II in Educational Support and\or demonstrated classroom experience working in an educational setting with young people with disabilities.
Passion for education: Demonstrate a genuine passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on students’ lives.
Current Working with Children's Check
Desirable:
· Experience with or knowledge of BSEM model
· Current First Aid qualification

About the School
Berengarra School is an independent, not-for-profit, co-educational secondary school for students who have had significant difficulties in mainstream education settings. All students who attend Berengarra School have social and/or emotional disability, that have contributed to their difficulties remaining engaged in education.
Berengarra School has two campuses, the Box Hill Campus with 50 Year 7-10 students studying the Victorian Curriculum and the Chadstone Campus with 30 Year 10-12 students where the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VM) is delivered.
