Your new role

As the Policy & Regulatory Research Officer, you'll play a central role in building and maintaining a high-quality, evidence-based knowledge bank that informs strategic decision-making and industry guidance. Reporting to the General Manager - Policy & Government Relations, you'll work closely with a talented stakeholder engagement team to ensure the organisation stays ahead of policy and regulatory developments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting desktop research across federal, state, and territory legislation, policy frameworks, and regulatory environments.
• Synthesising complex information into clear, accessible summaries, overviews, and comparative analyses.
• Maintaining and structuring the organisation's Policy & Regulatory Knowledge Bank by sector and occupation.
• Identifying emerging issues and opportunities for policy influence across areas such as migration, industrial relations, vocational pathways, and government funding.
• Collaborating with internal teams to prioritise research tasks and share findings in formats that support strategic engagement.
• Supporting the development of briefing materials and contributing to high-level analysis of government priorities.
• Ensuring all content is accurate, current, and referenced to relevant sources.

What you'll need to succeed

You'll bring:

• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex policy and regulatory information.
• Experience in policy research, analysis, or regulatory work-ideally within a government agency, industry body, or similar.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a bit of ambiguity.
• A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in contributing to a positive team culture.
• A background in law, policy, governance, or research is desirable, but not essential.
• Experience or interest in vocational education, workforce development, or the organisation's focus industries is a plus.
