Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Technical Officer (Electrical Systems) to join Facilities Management, Administrative Division.
The Technical Officer Electrical Systems is responsible for the coordination of maintenance support in the area of electrical systems and electrical minor new works projects. The role includes both hands-on electrical work and supervising and auditing external contractors in the electrical services field. Due to the nature of the role, the appointee may be required to be contactable and / or work outside of standard business hours. These occasions will be treated in accordance with the relevant provisions in the Enterprise Agreement for Professional Staff.

The Facilities Management Department within the Division of Administrative Services is responsible for managing the process of design, construction, maintenance and operation of the physical facilities, and the provision of a range of support services across the University's two main campuses at Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and a range of smaller offsite facilities.
What you need to succeed
- Evidence of an electrical trade qualification as an Electrical Fitter, Mechanic with a minimum of five (5) years indentured experience, together with experience in a supervisory role within a medium or large private/public organisation.
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge and ability to implement relevant Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Act, Electrical Safety Act, Codes of Practice, Regulations Legislation, electrical rules, standards and statutory requirements.
- Proven analytical problem solving skills in routine technical and administrative operational tasks using computer literacy skills, with a sound knowledge of equity principles with a willingness to undertake further training.
- Demonstrated high level of understanding and experience in developing, reviewing, implementing preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, commissioning of electrical systems related electrical infrastructure such as Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Proof of a current Queensland C-Class(manual) driver’s license, CPR Certificate, Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) certification, Electrical Fitter, Mechanical Licence (QLD).
