We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the day-to-day operations of a busy finance department based in South Melbourne. Working closely with a commercially minded Chief Financial Officer, this role plays a key part in the financial management of a thriving construction business.

The Senior Accountant will be involved in all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, month-end and cashflow forecasting. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop within a supportive finance team and gain exposure to a wide variety of tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced business.

The business will offer a hybrid working model after probation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

Prepare monthly financial reports for multiple entities

Complete annual financial statements for submission to external advisors

Maintain the general ledger with accuracy and integrity

Assist with weekly cashflow forecasting and reporting

Support the external audit process

Deliver ad hoc financial reports, including those for banking and finance partners

Oversee and ensure timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts

Accounting Systems & Cost Control

Act as the day-to-day lead

Oversee accounts receivable and provide system support

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure invoice payment

Assist in rolling out finance-related policies and procedures across the business

Management Reporting

Prepare monthly management reports and dashboards

Partner with department leads to meet their financial reporting needs

Support cashflow reporting and contribute to senior leadership discussions when required

Perform various ad hoc tasks and reporting duties as needed

Banking, Treasury & Cash Management

Manage and maintain multiple bank accounts and facilities

Leadership & Collaboration

Provide guidance to the accounts payable team

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support financial operations

Compliance & Taxation

Prepare and lodge monthly and quarterly BAS

Assist with FBT and income tax return workpapers

Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant financial regulations
