Seeking a Senior Accountant to join the team at Western District Health Services to play a pivotal role in managing revenue accounting, statutory reporting, and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.

Description

• Manage and lodge financial submissions to the Department of Health and Commonwealth.
• Oversee revenue accounting processes, including grant revenue, journals, reconciliations, and variance analysis across multiple funding streams (approx. $130M).
• Ensure accurate month-end close processes, including journal entries and trial balance preparation (10th-14th of each month).
• Perform variance analysis and ensure revenue recognition aligns with monthly funding allocations.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure integrity through regular reviews and adjustments.
• Act as the point of contact for a Graduate Accountant, providing support and oversight.
• Supervise tax lodgments (GST, BAS, FBT) and support fixed asset management.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and financial reports.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and financial efficiency.

Profile

A successful Senior Accountant should have:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (qualified or working towards CA/CPA)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations (health care-specific is a bonus)
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to improving financial processes and systems.
