The Network Operations team, part of the City of Gold Coast’s Infrastructure Operations branch, is responsible for operating, monitoring, and managing all assets associated with the city’s potable water, sewerage, and recycled water networks. We play a pivotal role in overseeing both planned and reactive network outages, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient provision of drinking water, recycled water, and sewerage services.
We are a collaborative team focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and enhancing service delivery to support our growing community. Through proactive initiatives, we strive to minimise customer impacts while maintaining high operational standards across all network services.
About the Role
The Network Operations Technical Officer plays a key role in supporting the Planning and Performance function within Network Operations, helping to drive efficiency and improve service delivery across the City’s water, sewerage, and recycled water networks. This office-based role contributes to the success of operational projects through the planning, coordination, and implementation of improvement initiatives, as well as the maintenance of project documentation and performance tracking to enable data-informed decision-making.
In addition, the role will support the business transition of recycled water customer management, including identifying related tasks across business areas, evaluating processes, and assisting with efforts to streamline and align responsibilities within the appropriate operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Analysing operational data and preparing reports to inform decision-making
Reviewing and streamlining business processes, procedures, and templates
Providing onboarding and training support for new team members
Supporting recycled water customer management
What We’re Looking For
Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a project support environment
Proactive, collaborative, and eager to contribute to service improvement
Skilled at managing competing priorities and coordinating activities with multiple stakeholders
Analytical and solutions-focused, able to interpret data and translate findings into actionable insights
Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Proficient in project documentation, reporting tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and SAP or similar systems (desirable)
Self-motivated, able to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment
