About the Aboriginal Investment Group (AIG)

AIG is a 100% Aboriginal owned Corporation, established in 1988. We work to create social and economic independence for Aboriginal people across the Northern Territory. Through innovative enterprise projects such as the Remote Laundries initiative, we deliver real jobs, improve health outcomes, and support sustainable development in remote communities. We proudly partner with national leading organisations in the pursuit of these outcomes, including the Heart Foundation and the CSIRO.

Position Overview

The Indigenous Engagement Manager plays a vital role in supporting AIG’s mission by leading culturally informed engagement across our programs, particularly the Remote Laundries Project. This role will build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, facilitate community-led decision-making, and ensure AIG's work is grounded in cultural understanding and community aspirations.

Reporting to the COO, the Indigenous Engagement Manager will drive internal and external engagement strategies, deliver cultural training, and ensure that community voices are central to program design, delivery, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Consultation

Lead all community consultations for the Remote Laundries Project, ensuring engagement is inclusive, respectful, and aligned with local cultural protocols.

Support ongoing community engagement with existing Remote Laundries sites to strengthen partnerships and sustain community ownership.

Facilitate open and transparent communication between AIG and community stakeholders including Traditional Owners, local leaders, Aboriginal corporations and other community stakeholders including schools, health care clinics and local businesses.

Collect and report on community feedback, ensuring it informs project decisions and continuous improvement.

External Engagement & Stakeholder Relations

Support the CEO in all external engagement activities, including meetings with government, industry partners, funding bodies and Aboriginal organisations.

Represent AIG at public forums, community meetings, and stakeholder events as required.

Foster collaborative partnerships that align with AIG’s values and community-first approach.

Training & Capacity Building

Support ongoing training and development of Remote Laundries’ community-based teams, focusing on cultural safety, empowerment, and local leadership.

Work closely with Operations and HR teams to identify skills development needs and coordinate training delivery.

Internal Cultural Development

Develop and deliver internal cultural training for AIG staff to build cultural capability and improve service delivery in Aboriginal communities.

Act as an internal advisor on cultural protocols and engagement practices.
