Head of Occupational Therapy
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Occupational Therapy to lead the Occupational Therapy Services division at Scope Home Access.
Operating out of our Illawarra office, your passion for occupational therapy and extensive clinical experience, combined with your ability to lead, inspire and motivate teams, will see you thrive in in this role.

Essential Requirements for the Role:
Qualifications:
1. Educational Background:
o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised institution, BAppSc (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent.
o Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist.
2. Experience:
o Minimum 7 years clinical practice in occupational therapy, with a focus on aged care and minor, major and/or complex home modifications.
o Proven leadership experience, including managing a team of healthcare professionals.
o Experience working within the CHSP or similar government-funded programs.
3. Skills and Competencies:
o Strong clinical skills in occupational therapy, particularly in the assessment and delivery of home modifications to older people.
o Excellent knowledge of CHSP guidelines, aged care regulations, and best practices in the sector.
o Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and stakeholders.
o Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on client-centred care.
o Excellent organisational and time management skills
o Effective report writing and presentation skills
o Financial acumen, with experience in budgeting and resource management.
4. Other Requirements:
o Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required for client visits and stakeholder meetings.
o Current National Police Check/NDIS Worker Screening Check
o Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on industry trends.
o Commitment to quality improvement
Desirable Qualifications:
o Experience in program development and innovation in the aged care sector.
o Knowledge of assistive technologies and their application in home modifications.
o Ability to interpret and apply relevant Australian Standards.
o Membership in professional organisations such as Occupational Therapy Australia.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Management:
o Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy team, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.
o Develop and implement strategic plans for the Occupational Therapy division aligned with organisational goals and funding body requirements.
o Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging professional development and continuous improvement.
2. Clinical Oversight:
o Oversee the assessment, planning, and delivery of home modifications and other occupational therapy services, including Contract OTs, for Scope Home Access clients.
o Ensure that all clinical practices adhere to current evidence-based guidelines, the Aged Care Quality Standards, and best practices in occupational therapy and home modifications.
o Monitor client outcomes and satisfaction, ensuring that services meet the diverse needs of Scope Home Access clients.
3. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
o Ensure compliance with all regulatory/funding guidelines, including eligibility criteria, service standards, and reporting requirements.
o Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of care and service delivery.
o Conduct regular audits and reviews of clinical practices to ensure adherence to regulatory and funding body requirements.
4. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Liaise with clients, families, and caregivers to ensure that home modifications and other services meet client needs and preferences.
o Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, government agencies, and community organisations to coordinate care and support for clients.
o Represent the organisation in professional and community forums, advocating for the needs of older people and the role of occupational therapy in aged care and the other client groups serviced by Scope Home Access.
5. Program Development and Innovation:
o Identify opportunities for program development and innovation in the delivery of home modifications and occupational therapy services.
o Lead initiatives to improve service delivery, enhance client outcomes, and optimise the use of resources.
o Stay updated on trends and developments in the aged care sector, home modifications and assistive technology, and integrate new practices and technologies into service delivery.
6. Budget and Resource Management:
o Develop and manage the Occupational Therapy division's budget, ensuring the efficient use of resources.
o Secure and allocate resources necessary for the delivery of high-quality services, including equipment, materials, and staffing.
o Prepare regular financial and operational reports for senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
