We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Coordinator to take ownership of the payroll function and provide leadership to the Payroll team. This position is pivotal in ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations while supporting employee experience and organisational compliance. You will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll processes, mentoring Payroll Coordinators, resolving complex queries, and providing key reporting to management.

THE ROLE:
- Lead, mentor, and support Payroll Coordinators to ensure excellence in service delivery.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Modern Awards, enterprise agreements, Fair Work legislation, and employment laws.
- Approve and oversee calculations of earnings, deductions, leave entitlements, and terminations.
- Resolve complex payroll queries and discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Liaise with the ATO, superannuation funds, and other regulatory bodies.
- Manage preparation and distribution of pay slips, payment summaries, and payroll documentation.
- Implement process improvements to enhance payroll compliance and efficiency.
- Partner with HR and Finance teams to ensure data alignment and accuracy.
- Provide regular payroll reporting and insights to senior management.
- Support payroll system upgrades, compliance audits, and award interpretation changes.
THE CANDIDATE:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Payroll Administration.
- Diploma or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, or HR (highly desirable).
- Relevant training in payroll legislation and compliance.
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a senior/supervisory role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Modern Awards, enterprise agreements, and Fair Work legislation.
- Experience managing payroll for medium to large workforces across multiple sites.
- Proven experience in mentoring and leading payroll staff.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Payforce, Payline, and MYOB.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tool expertise.
- Knowledge of Single Touch Payroll (STP) requirements and reporting.
Soft Skills
- High attention to detail with strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Commitment to confidentiality and integrity in payroll matters.
