The Opportunity

This is a very rare opportunity in the Canberra market for you to enter a premium employer at a level where you can make a significant impact. Working across the GM’s and Senior Management of key business areas and reporting to the Deputy CFO, you will lead the commercial services function in driving operational performance. You will have the opportunity to test and further develop your commercial capabilities by reviewing material business cases and advising on key projects and investments.

The Role

Requires a commercially astute finance Senior Manager/Director to collaborate across the business to inform strategic decision making and support the business by:

• Lead annual budgeting, long-term forecasts, and quarterly reforecasts with analysis of risks, opportunities, and performance trends in the context of significant CapEx and OpEx spend
• Review organisational financial performance and provide clear insights and commentary for the Executive, Board, and business leaders
• Evaluate business cases, investments, tenders, and contracts to ensure strategic alignment and commercial viability
• Partner with the CFO, Deputy CFO and senior stakeholders to identify opportunities to optimise financial performance and support strategic initiatives
• Develop and manage commercial frameworks, KPIs, reporting tools, and internal controls to strengthen governance and decision-making
• Oversee procurement, contracts, and cost allocation processes to ensure compliance, transparency, and value for money
• Lead and mentor a specialist team (of three) across Commercial Services and Accounting, driving capability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

You are a commercially astute Senior Manager/Director with a background in complex commercial businesses that have led to expertise across commercial analysis, projects, contracts, risk, and financial management. You enjoy a broad role where you really invest in your subject matter in order to add value to the strategic direction of the organisation you work for. You are an influential communicator who will create strong working relationships across a diverse business in order to drive change. You are a high performer who will value working within a strong-performing team in an organisation that will stretch you to the next level.

Strong experience leading commercial analysis, financial accounting, FP&A or specialist advisory services and related CA/CPA professional qualifications will be highly regarded.

Salary / Rate

• $200k - $230k total remuneration package (negotiable based on experience)
