About the Role
This role is residential and based in Aurukun.
Reporting to the General Manager Infrastructure Services this role manages Council’s Asset and Facilities Plan, with responsibility for the day to day operations of Councils asset management system, scheduling cleaning and maintenance, scheduling asset condition assessments, maintaining staff housing inventories and identifying key dates. Fleet management and performance oversight includes scheduling repairs and maintenance, keeping track of all essential documentation, including insurance and inspection records and managing the acquisition and disposal of vehicles.
Key Accountabilities
Facilities
Monitor and manage the lodgement of maintenance requests, relating to the renewal, improvement, cleaning and furnishing of all Council buildings.
Manage contractors and staff to achieve optimum productivity, compliance to relevant statutory regulations, health and safety requirements and ensure a responsive service.
Maintain the Staff Housing Register and the Key Register, and ensuring appropriate processes and systems are in place for efficient lease management (eg key dates, operational adherence, cost recoveries).
Liaise with the Executive leadership team fortnightly to determine and allocate appropriate permanent staff housing requirements.
Ensure new imported staff are provided with a completely furnished and fitted out dwelling following Councils staff housing inventory, including welcome pack and instruction for use of housing related items eg. Powercards.
Liaise with Cleaning Supervisor to ensure Staff housing is adequately prepared for incoming staff (i.e. dwelling is cleaned, and lawns are mowed).
Fleet
Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of each company-owned commercial vehicle and
efficient asset utilisation by:
Supervising procurement and administering the processing and maintenance of vehicle registration and insurance.
Implementing a real-time vehicle location tracking system
Vehicle performance monitoring and record keeping
Oversee the overall operation of the workshop that repairs and maintains Council’s heavy plant, small plant and light vehicle fleet. The workshop is currently contracted to an external provider which may change in the future.
When a vehicle is no longer capable of serving its intended purpose, advise The General Manager Infrastructure Services on appropriate reassignment or disposal following Queensland Local government legislative requirements.
Reporting to the General Manger Infrastructure Services on Fleet’s performance, expenses, budgets and major purchases, costs of operations plans and fleet-level targets.
Assets
Administer and maintain Council’s Asset Management System MentorAPM, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data.
Develop and administer a process of asset data/information collation with relevant service areas and project managers, to ensure an optimum level of information is captured.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of thorough and complete documentation on Council’s Asset Management System, asset registers, compilation of data, unit rate & useful life calculations, and other appropriate data
Development, facilitation, and management of Council’s Asset Management Plan, including scheduling asset condition assessments and asset valuations.
Manage asset related insurance and claims across all asset classes with Council’s insurer.
Risk Management, including development and maintenance of Council’s Asset Risk Register.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business management or similar (desirable)
Local government and/or regional work experience (desirable)
Experience (2-4 years’) in asset management, facilities management, contract management, fleet management or a service-related industry
Well-developed skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational capabilities with attention to accuracy and detail.
A strong customer focus and an ability to build strong customer relationships.
The ability to mentor and develop a strong work team that works to the Wik Kath Min Community Values and Code of Conduct.
The ability to show a high level of commitment to interact positively in a remote First Nations community.
