About the Organisation

This peak body is responsible for the national coordination and representation of some 18,000 Catholic schools and education authorities across Australia. Led by an ex-senator, the national office (secretariat) is responsible for supporting this peak body in the implementation of key strategic priorities as well as its day-to-day operations including:

• Maintaining effective relationships with the Australian Government and other key education authorities and bodies;
• Working towards a national policy consensus and funding model that represents and serves the needs and interests of Catholic school communities;
• Consultation and coordination with State and Territory Commissions and other key stakeholders.

About the Role
The Senior Technical Business Analyst provides expert analysis and reporting on matters of interest to this peak body. Working as part of the secretariate team, the Senior Data Analyst is across a range of subject matter of interest to this peak body. The work of the Data Analyst includes:

Modelling and manipulation of funding data to support advocacy, strategy, issues management and engagement with government.

Undertaking high-quality quantitative analysis with the ability to communicate complex findings in a format that can be understood by a range of stakeholders;

Problem solving including being able to research new topics, identify relevant sources of data and drafting reports that present your findings relevant to the topic.

About you:
The person we are looking for will have all or some of the following:

Tertiary qualifications in data analytics or related analytical discipline;

Demonstrated aptitude for understanding, manipulating and cleaning complex datasets and using a variety of methods to identify trends;

Proven ability to quickly grasp an understanding of unfamiliar subject matter, especially in the education sector and competently identify relevant data, data sources and track trends;

Previous experience working in a government, Big 4 firm, member association or peak body especially in the education sector or with education sector clients;

Proven ability to prepare high quality reports and briefing papers;

Demonstrated administrative, organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing demands and priorities;

Advanced Excel skills and experience using a range of data visualisation software including e.g. PowerB1;
