The opportunity
Emergency Management plays an integral part in our community across Port Stephens. With the last few years filled with challenging storms, floods, bushfires and a global pandemic, the role of Emergency Management Resilience Officer, aims to actively support the community by partnering with our stakeholders before, during and after an emergency.
We’re seeking a collaborative and adaptable individual, with strong community engagement skills, to continue to uphold the high level of support the community of Port Stephens has come to know, and join our team.
As Emergency Management Resilience Officer, you’ll be building and maintaining strong relationships with our stakeholders, assisting them in their emergency management programs and supporting them through times of impact and recovery. Strong community engagement background.
Our team is small but dynamic, with you reporting directly to our Emergency Management Coordinator, and working alongside our Emergency Management Project Manager.
There is a need to be flexible given the nature of our work is unpredictable, with flexible working hours including some evenings and weekends as required.
This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
Base Salary Range: $77,355 - $91,003 pa based on 35 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $19,364 motor vehicle allowance + $2,464 retention allowance
You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

Develop, implement and evaluate emergency management focused educational, awareness and support programs to Council staff, the community and stakeholders
Engage with Council, local businesses, community groups and other organisations regarding emergency management initiatives
Provide support to impacted communities and support partners during and after natural disasters
Actively seek external funding and support for emergency management programs

A tertiary qualification in project management, community engagement, education, emergency management or equivalent or related experience
Demonstrated experience in developing, coordinating and implementing community education programs
