AUSTRALIAN QUEEN BEE EXPORTERS PTY. LTD., the largest producer/supplier of queen honey bees and package bees in Australia is now offering a full time position for someone with the right qualifications in beekeeping.

The following job description requires previous and/or current skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas relating to beekeeping:

Requirements:

Relevant bachelor’s degree qualification and at least two years of relevant work experience OR five years of relevant work experience if no suggested qualification is available.

Key resposibilities

Work with honey bees (stinging insect, Apis mellifera species)

Work with honey bees (stinging insect, Apis mellifera species)

Employ appropriate personal protective equipment for work with honey bees

Competently light and extinguish a bee smoker in consideration of work, health and safety standards and environmental conditions

Employ appropriate beehive handling procedures to minimise stimulation of aggressive behaviour in honey bees

Adhere to work, health and safety standards for work with a stinging insect

Undertake beekeeping work in accordance with "National best management practice for beekeeping in the Australian environment".

Undertake seasonal beehive management

Harvest and extract a honey crop

Transport beehives to pollination contracts, honey production apiary sites, etc.

Manage honey bee swarms

Comply with industry quality assurance requirements

Manage pest and diseases within a honey bee colony

Annual salary: $76,520 - $79,000
