Our client, Department of Education (DoE), are currently seeking a Program Manger for their Contractor Management Improvement multi year program. The purpose of this role is to drive the analysis, reform and engagement required for the first tranche of the CMI Program and to provide subject matter expertise in contractor management and business improvement.

Overview

DoE is undertaking a significant, multi-year investment in its educational infrastructure to address growth demands and optimise the use of its existing assets. With an annual delivery portfolio of approximately $2 billion and an asset base exceeding $40 billion, this investment reflects the department’s commitment to supporting Queensland’s education system.

The Project

As part of this effort, the DoE has established the Contractor Management Improvement (CMI) Program following a review of its infrastructure contractor management practices. This major business transformation initiative aims to enhance the management of contractors delivering building, construction, and maintenance services across DoE facilities. The program focuses on improving safety, mitigating risks, and strengthening contractor performance to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The CMI Program is a critical initiative for the department and is being delivered by an internal program team working in close collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation.

  • Support the design of a fit-for-purpose future model that strengthens safety, performance, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to shape practical reforms, gaining buy-in across diverse operational and leadership teams.
  • Provide authoritative advice to executives and delivery partners, including through workshops, written briefings and targeted engagement.
  • Monitor program progress and outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement through feedback and metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders and build strong functional relationships across the Division and broader Department in support of the delivery of project objectives.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex ideas and technical requirements clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Other responsibilities (as required)
  • Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
