About the Position
The Chef de Partie (Pastry) will be responsible for producing high-quality food, cakes and pastries that meets established recipe standards in taste, appearance and consistency. The role includes managing daily food production, supporting strategic goals, and ensuring cost-effective kitchen operations through waste minimisation and stock control. Strong teamwork and communication are essential, and while the Chef de Partie (Pastry) works under the guidance of Sous Chefs or the Executive Chef, they are also expected to operate independently when required.
Casual position. Band 2.1 $31.19 per hour + 25% casual loading.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- Food Safety Handling Certificate
- Previous experience in high pressure, fast paced hotel restaurant or catering environment
- Knowledge of food costing/budgeting and cost control
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for creating high standards of excellence in food preparation and presentation
- The ability to work collaboratively in the team environment

The Kitchen Brigade is responsible for the food delivery within Arts Centre Melbourne which contributes as a major driver of revenue.
The kitchen delivers a culinary experience on a multi-platform stage, catering for the culinary novice, the theatre going-crowds, world stage performers and a vast array of local and international dignitaries.
