About You!
The successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting (B.Com, B.Bus with an Accounting Major) or similar
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a public practice accounting firm
- Worked through two financial years tax seasons within Australia and be highly knowledgeable around the ITAA
- Embrace technology, change and be influential in adoption and implementation of new technologies
- Highly developed communication skills – written, verbal, contributing and leading meetings
- Ability to self-manage work in progress, prioritise the right activities and maintain a high level of accuracy and care while doing so
- Possess high attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate, quality work and be a natural problem solver
What you’ll be doing
While not an exhaustive list, some of the things you’ll find yourself doing in a regular working week would include:
- Working collaboratively with the team
- Preparing statutory obligations — IAS, BAS, and STP finalisation
- Processing payroll and superannuation
- Educating, training and supporting clients, recommending solutions (such as software) to optimise their existing processes
- Contributing to continuous improvement – both internally and externally with clients
- Developing insight-based reporting to help people from non-accounting/finance backgrounds understand the ‘why’
- Leading client meetings with clear updates, performance insights, and proactive advice
- Preparing and lodging Payroll Tax and Workers Compensation obligations.
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Setting up amortisation schedules.
- Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies.
- Working confidently across Xero, MYOB, and other accounting platforms.
In short, you’ll be helping our clients ensure the statutory/regulatory requirements are met and that they’re not ‘out of bounds’ in terms of their responsibilities to the ATO, ASIC, Workers Compensation, and so on.
