Firbank Grammar School is seeking an experienced and inspirational Educational Leader to lead our Sandringham House Campus Early Learning Centre in a full-time (1.0FTE) position commencing in Term 4, 2025.

We are seeking a leader with experience in a similar role who shares our passion for providing the best possible care and high quality education for children aged between 3-5 years old. Our nurturing environment gives our children the mechanisms to learn and develop their young minds at such a crucial stage in their lives.

The Educational Leader is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the educational outcomes and operations of the Early Learning Centre which encompasses Long Day and Standard Day programs, as well as to manage all activities within the Centre in an efficient and effective manner. This position includes time spent in and out of the classroom, with approx. 0.4FTE spent in the classroom and 0.6FTE spent on Educational Leader duties, perfect for a leader who wants to keep hands on time in the classroom.

As the ELC Educational Leader, you’ll be instrumental in shaping a high-quality, play-based curriculum aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF). You'll be responsible for guiding, mentoring, and inspiring our educators to deliver exceptional educational experiences, while also driving continuous improvement across our service; helping shape an environment where both our educators and children thrive.

Base salary: $100k-$125k p.a (based upon qualifications and experience) + an annual $5k ELC Educational Leader Position of Responsibility.

The ELC Educational Leader component of the role will be tenured for a 3-year period. If ELC Educational Leader does not continue, you will remain in an ongoing teaching role at Firbank Grammar.

Key Responsibilities:

Your role within the ELC as Educational Leader will be to ensure the care and education of each child and promote strong partnerships with all families. You will be responsible for ensuring the Centre maintains adherence to policies and procedures, as well as the standards of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and Law, and the National Quality Standards. Other duties and tasks may include:

Fulfil Nominated Supervisor responsibilities, as per ACECQA guidelines.

Chair regular meetings, ensure administration is conducted in an efficient and timely manner, deal appropriately with interpersonal issues affecting the team and deal with parent concerns and performance issues.

In liaison with the Head of Campus, implement an effective staff management process with a view to maximise continuity of staff including recruitment, induction and orientation of new staff as well as supervision of workplace students and volunteers.

Manage the physical resources for the Early Learning Centre. This includes items such as budgets, classroom equipment, capital forecasts and technology requirements as appropriate and as required in conjunction with the Head of Campus.

Lead the continuous improvement of the Centre and the development and maintenance of Quality Improvement Plans (QIP).

Generate and regularly review the Early Years learning curriculum that reflects appropriate approaches to education for 3 and 4 year olds.

Identify and address child safety risks.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent as approved by ACECQA, as well as a current ELC VIT Registration.

Experience teaching ELC 3 and ELC 4.

Leadership experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.

Strong understanding of PYP in the Early Years and a commitment to the principles and practices of the Reggio Emilia approach will be highly regarded.

Knowledge of Long Day Care sector is preferable, but not mandatory.

Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications as recommended by the Education and Care Services National Regulations.

Food Handling Certificate.
