About the Role
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a motivated Senior Service Planner – Special Bus Operations to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of bus services for special events and major rail replacement services. Reporting to the Network Development & Disruptions Manager, this role involves estimating resources, reviewing service proposals, collaborating with key stakeholders, and ensuring efficient and customer-focused operations.
Key Duties:
Plan and coordinate all aspects of Transperth bus services for special events and major planned rail replacement services, including funding and resource requirements.
Estimate and allocate buses and staff needed to supervise special events and rail replacement services.
Provide clear and timely information to bus drivers and operational staff to ensure smooth event day operations.
Review passenger data and service performance to inform planning for future special events and service improvements.
Lead operational planning and rostering to optimise resource use and enhance customer experience during events and service disruptions.
Act as on-site coordinator during special events and rail replacements, leading staff, liaising with stakeholders, and managing operational issues.
Monitor traffic and liaise with bus operators from the Main Roads Traffic Operations Centre during peak periods to manage incidents and advocate for bus network priority.
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Demonstrated experience in developing bus service plans for special events, including demand forecasting, resource estimation, scheduling, and rostering within an urban metropolitan transport system.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coordinate special events and major rail replacement services onsite, effectively leading and motivating staff.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, build relationships, and work independently or collaboratively within a team.
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with statistical data analysis and research.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and proficient use of PC software including statistical, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
