The Role

As Mine Accountant, you’ll be responsible for delivering accurate and timely monthly management accounts and reporting for the allocated mine site, while stewarding the ledger and leveraging BI tools to provide performance insights. You’ll work closely with another mine accountant to ensure a smooth handover, and partner with site management, commercial teams, and joint venture partners to support operational and strategic goals.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

Preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis against budget/forecast

Managing month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations, and capital expenditure

Delivering accurate and timely JV accounting and reporting

Partnering with site management and commercial teams to support operational performance

Maintaining the general ledger to ensure accuracy and correct allocation of expenses

Using BI tools to prepare insightful reports and identify performance trends

Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes

Completing audit requirements, including half-year, year-end, and hard close

Driving process improvements and challenging variances to uncover root causes

About You

You’re a technically strong management accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. You learn quickly, adapt to new systems and concepts with ease, and enjoy working collaboratively with site and corporate stakeholders. Mining industry experience will be highly regarded, but your ability to provide accurate reporting, challenge variances, and deliver insights is key.

Skills & Experience

CPA/CA qualification (or working towards)

Strong management accounting and month-end reporting skills

ERP system experience (SAP highly regarded)

BI tool experience (TM1 advantageous but not essential)

Mining or heavy industry experience preferred
