Join the HDE Team – this is a new role to lift our internal Finance and Operational standards. We want to maintain our nimble small business culture and embed a higher level of compliance, reporting and strategic planning.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a unique, small company role encompassing commercial and financial responsibilities. Our growth is underpinned by deep industry experience, a long term planning approach and sound analysis.

What We’re All About: At H&D Electrical, we’re more than just a company – a multi-disciplined workforce of over 20 dedicated technicians, providing electrical solutions for commercial properties. Working across many Premium and A Grade Commercial Office buildings, we are required to perform testing, fault finding and building upgrade work.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Review and finalise weekly payroll and understanding application of the Electrical Award

Cashflow management, budget reporting and using Power BI to communicate performance against targets

Provide support to Managing Director and Project Managers on job costing and job retention management

Managing meetings

Insurance compliance

Ensuring company policies, procedures and documentation are being reviewed and followed

Work closely with our Brisbane Accountant and offshore administration (AP/AR, reconciling suppport)

Managing our aged receivables to targets

Review Monthly and annual accounts for audit purposes

General tax compliance including assisting with FBT, GST etc returns

Journals, reconciliation, accruals and analysis

Proposed hours are approximately 18 hours and are negotiable for the right candidate.

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications and experience in the following:

Bachelor degree in Accounting or similar field

CA/CPA qualified or nearing completion of qualification

Experience with management and negotiation of trading T&Cs and contracts with clients and suppliers

Experience with taxation, FBT and legislation changes and requirements, policy and risk management for the business.

Experience within the Construction, Property or Electrical trades sector

Very strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

You'll have outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships within the business in a hybrid/remote environment. Your curiosity and compassion, coupled with the ability to listen to others, will put you in good stead to build strong relationships. You enjoy working collaboratively across all teams, always ensuring the best interests of our business. The hourly rate will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
