This position is focused on enhancing Subiaco as a place for our community – a place that is welcoming, attractive, full of life and is authentically Subiaco. The role provides an engaging, and fast paced environment where you will collaborate across the organisation, gaining knowledge of processes across a variety of local government areas.
The successful applicant will be responsible for designing, planning and delivering a diverse set of place-based projects, and will manage place development plans, strategies, processes and initiatives. Additionally, they will demonstrate the City’s values of Supportive, United, Bold and Impactful.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead, coordinate and deliver place projects. including, capital upgrade projects and strategic projects ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget and timeframes.
- Provide advice, recommendations, and innovative solutions in the development of place projects.
- Manage a small team including the Place Officer to achieve project outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, Council and with key external stakeholders including the State Government, local resident, and business communities.

- Coordinate project budgeting, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports in consultation with the Manager, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Manage and administer contracts and agreements in the delivery of projects.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align projects with organisational priorities and goals.
- Foster strong working relationships with key external stakeholders such as the State Government, local residents, and business communities to facilitate project success.
- Any other duties as required.

Essential criteria:
- Extensive experience in diverse project management with a demonstrated track record of successful delivery across a broad spectrum of projects.
- Demonstrated experience in design-based project work including developing briefs, managing consultants and delivering engagement programs.
- Experience in a similar role.
- Exceptional relationship building skills with a demonstrated track record of establishing and leading partnerships, collaboration, and stakeholder management.
- Exceptional communication skills including report writing, presentations and the development of other materials.
- Exceptional organisation skills with an ability to manage multiple projects, programs and initiatives and corresponding administrative requirements.
- Knowledge of place-based theory, urban design, community engagement and allied disciplines.
- Supervisory ability that includes people and budget management and a high level or organisational ability in planning, prioritising and achieving outcomes to deadlines.
- Understanding the principles and legislative requirements of local government.
- Well-developed analytical skills and proven ability to develop solutions for difficult problems.
- Ability to think conceptually, creatively and strategically.
- Demonstrated abilities in facilitation, negotiation, influencing outcomes and conflict resolution.
- Strong community engagement and public facilitation skills.
Salary package:
From $$111,072.00 to $119,028.00 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
