This national B2B organisation operates several specialist procurement groups that support independent operators across technical trade‑supply sectors. By aggregating spend, it secures advantaged commercial terms and programs, underpinned by a shared‑services hub spanning finance, analytics, governance and technology. Each division retains its own market focus while leveraging central scale for efficiency and value. The entity is governed via a stakeholder‑led Board and is recognised for a transparent, service‑first culture and long‑standing partner relationships. With a national footprint, it continues to deliver above‑market growth.

About the opportunity:

Reporting to the Board, the General Manager holds end‑to‑end accountability for performance across multiple divisions and shared services. This is a hands‑on senior role blending strategy, execution and people leadership. Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver the strategic plan and budget; track and report progress and variances to the Board
  • Full P&L ownership: throughput, revenue retention, cost control, cashflow, debtor/creditor discipline and divisional profitability
  • Membership growth and retention; strengthen value propositions and service delivery
  • Deepen supplier partnerships and competitive commercial offerings
  • Lead, coach and develop a distributed team; embed a safe, high‑performance, values‑led culture with clear policies and processes
  • Lift data and IT capability (finance systems, BI, CRM); sponsor upgrades and adoption
  • Governance, risk and compliance across all operations; maintain the organisation's social licence to operate
  • Market scanning and strategic positioning; represent the organisation at industry events, conferences and reviews
  • Regular interstate engagement with teams, members and suppliers (circa 40 travel days per annum)
  • 3-5+ years as a GM/CEO (or equivalent) with cross‑functional leadership (commercial, operations, finance) and full P&L accountability
  • Success in stakeholder‑ or member‑led, service‑intensive B2B environments, ideally serving independent operators
  • Experience in adjacent technical supply chains (e.g., industrial/trade distribution, building‑related or primary industry channels), with sector flexibility
  • Mid‑market scale background; comfortable operating without heavy corporate infrastructure; pragmatic and hands‑on
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen: interpret performance drivers, interrogate trends, manage risk and optimise cash conversion
  • Technology savvy: working knowledge of finance platforms, BI and CRM; capable of sponsoring system improvements and adoption
  • Exceptional stakeholder skills: trusted with members, suppliers, staff and Board; visible, accessible and service‑oriented
  • Leadership traits:
  • Builds teams and successors; coaches for accountability and performance
  • Outstanding listening and empathy; calm, fair and consistent
  • Decisive with learning agility; resilient, tenacious and action‑oriented
  • Tenure that shows commitment and delivery (not short stints)
  • Willingness to travel regularly interstate

A competitive salary package is on offer ranges from $240k - $275k TFR
