About the Role

Auspiced by Primary Care Connect within The Orange Door network, the Team Leader – Adults Using Family Violence will provide leadership and supervision of a team of highly skilled Adults Using Family Violence Practitioners who provide screening, assessment, triage and short-term response to all incoming referrals with a focus on adults using family violence, through an Integrated Practice Framework. The focus of the adults using family violence service is to keep people using family violence accountable for their actions and behaviours. The Team Leader will also supervise and support staff from other agencies that sit within The Orange Door and provide direction to make a thorough and in-depth risk assessments for the safety of those experiencing family violence or child wellbeing issues.

The Team Leader will work in close partnership with other Team Leaders to lead family violence practice in The Orange Door and support secondary consultations with internal and external service providers. The Team Leader will work to embed the MARAM Framework within The Orange Door. The Team Leader will work as part of a team working collaboratively to improve capability, integrated practice and provide specialist support to all staff. This role is based at The Orange Door Shepparton.

The Orange Door team includes a mix of staff employed by Family Safe Victoria (FSV) and staff employed by Community Support Organisations, Aboriginal services and DFFH. Position reports to the Executive Manager Family Services via the Team Leader - Specialist Family Violence Services. It is also expected that this position works within the larger Orange Door Team and Primary Care Connect teams, and networks with external organisations.

The Orange Door team includes a mix of staff employed by Family Safe Victoria (FSV) and staff employed by Community Support Organisations, Aboriginal services and DFFH. The PCC Practitioner – Adults using Family Violence roles report to this position and this position reports to the Executive Manager Family Service. It is expected that this position works within the larger Orange Door Team and Primary Care Connect teams, and networks with external organisations.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent, or relevant qualifications and a willingness to work towards an equivalent qualification as set out in Mandatory minimum qualifications for specialist family violence practitioners
  • A knowledge and understanding of the drivers/causes of family violence and child and family vulnerability, as well as the child and family services and/or broader social services sector and their fundamental practices and theories is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading family violence practice within complex service delivery contexts, particularly multi-disciplinary and multi-agency approaches to the provision of services to vulnerable children, families and diverse communities is required.
  • Expert knowledge and experience working in family violence teams; has demonstrated experience in applying risk assessment and risk management frameworks in a family violence context; has knowledge of the gendered nature of family violence, the drivers and causes of family violence and feminist, intersectionality and human rights frameworks pertaining to adults and children; has deep understanding of the role of the law and legal system in the context of responding to family violence and vulnerable children and families; has knowledge of practice working with women, children, families, victims and adults using family violence; has experience working with Victoria’s diverse communities.
  • Have the ability to a clear concept of the culture required to achieve integrated practice, and deliver effective, culturally safe and responsive services; designs and delivers innovative practices that enhance integrated practice and promotes quality practice standards; understands how to build and establish effective practice cultures, identifies change required, describes reasons for it and engages people who can deliver the change.
  • Experience in providing supervision to staff and can demonstrate the fundamentals of reflective practice. Has the ability to share and present knowledge. Has the ability to adapt, lead and manage change and has experience in such.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work collaborate with internally and externally with partners and stakeholders and community members. Capacity to build partnerships, negotiate and liaise at leadership level for the best interest of clients and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to flexibly manage competing priorities and stressful situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication: has experience in public speaking, providing presentation and facilitation skills. Has experience in adhering to the legislative requirements and the Victorian Government’s records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Experience using technology to complete daily work tasks.
