The Role
This position works under the general direction from the Family Services Manager to lead the day to day delivery of members delivering AFLDM, Cultural Planning and Case Management of children in OOHC. The position provides effective daily oversight of these programs to achieve and exceed performance and delivery targets that reflect the needs of the community, with a focus on quality system and continuous improvement-based management, and communityfocused programing. For Aboriginal families and children, culture and the integrity of culture is crucial for health and development. Traditional Aboriginal culture is inherently inter-relational and inter-dependent and views the person as living and being in a relationship with the family, the community, the tribe, the land and spiritual beings, of the lores and dreaming. It's important interventions respect the strong lineal connection and that case workers see child and family needs holistic care, not feeling in isolation.
About You
• Relevant qualification (or working towards) in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field and/or experience providing support services to families and young children.
• Experience or demonstrated capability to lead and support team members in the out-of-home care sector.
• Knowledge and experience with mandatory reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop positive stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively with diverse individuals in a culturally appropriate manner.
• Ability to demonstrate resilience and work in challenging and high-pressure environments
• Strong written communication skills, including accuracy, record-keeping, and report writing abilities.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a team and follow processes.
• Understanding and demonstrated experience in Case Management principles.
• Knowledge of safe and culturally appropriate practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander-focused services, including the employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
• Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economic, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their access to quality services.
• Commitment to the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards, contributing to a child-safe organisation in both practice and culture.
Desirable
• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
