Due to a recent implementation of a new accounting software package, an opportunity has been created for an experienced accountant to join the head office team.
About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Accountant to come and work as part of a small, close-knit finance team, supporting our construction site teams. This position is a full-time role, based at our office in Malvern, reporting directly to the CFO.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced accountant, who is qualified by experience and not necessarily degree qualified. The successful candidate will have a real opportunity to advance their career as the company and the expectation of this role continue to grow.
Responsibilities include:
Manage daily input of all financial transactions associated with multiple construction projects, whilst maintaining accurate financial records;
Process and reconcile accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely supplier payments;
Communicate with suppliers to resolve discrepancies, manage credit notes, and apply discounts or specials;
Collect and input credit card expenses, including managing employee expense claims.
Complete bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations;
Support the preparation of GST reporting requirements;
Contribute to end-of-month and end-of-year close processes;
Assisting with group EOFY responsibilities inclusive of reconciliations, journal entries and workpaper preparation for the year-end financial accounts.
Assisting in the preparation of job budgets and forecasts;
Ad hoc administrative duties and reporting when required;
Previous experience running payroll is highly valued
About you
To be successful in this role you will need:
A minimum of 3 years+ stable career history working in a similar role.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills with a good working knowledge of Word and Powerpoint.
MYOB or Zero experience.
A keen eye for detail and the ability to produce high quality, concise work consistently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Highly motivated, analytical and driven to grow your accounting experience.
Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. Exposure to modern awards would be advantageous.
Hold permanent Australian residency status. Overseas applicants will not be considered.
