About the Role
The purpose of the Public Health and Immunisation Support Consultant position is to:
Provide support and undertake activity in relation to the ongoing COVID-19 Vaccination program.
Develop and deliver interventions to support primary care providers to increase uptake of childhood vaccinations.
This is a hybrid role: working across western Victoria. Travel is required for stakeholder engagement, face-face meetings and training. Ideally candidate will be located in Ballarat region, but not essential.
Duties include:
In collaboration with the Partnerships and Public Health team, identify gaps in current support provision and suitable avenues to best support
Vulnerable populations to access COVID-19 vaccinations
Primary care providers to increase uptake of childhood vaccinations within the population
Work with key identified stakeholders to facilitate enhanced access to COVID-19 vaccinations
Be responsible for developing and maintaining all internal and external administrative records associated with childhood immunisations and COVID-19 vaccinations
Complete and submit to the Commonwealth Department of Health all required reporting associated with WVPHN’s COVID-19 Vaccination Activity
Work in partnership to maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders involved in communicable diseases including care pathways, vaccinations and vulnerable populations, community health, sector peak bodies, local government and relevant Victorian Government departmental representatives
Key Selection Criteria (KSC's)
Essential:
Project Management and logistics experience
Ability to succeed in a highly dynamic and changing environment – demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships
Advanced communication skills, emphasising an ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
Understanding of primary health care and current health care trends and community issues in the Australian context
Experience working in the primary care sector
Qualifications in health or related area and/or relevant professional experience
Knowledge of Australia’s immunisation schedule
Desirable:
Ability to assess complex issues and find a way forward, ensuring all stakeholder positions are considered
Demonstrated experience in engaging, training and coaching primary health care providers to facilitate the implementation of change management programs; quality improvement initiatives and/or new models of care with tangible results
Preparedness to find compromise positions and to reconsider positions as circumstances change
Knowledge of Victoria’s acute health care and primary health care sectors
Knowledge of health stakeholders and local communities in western Victoria
Employment requirements
Be prepared to undergo a National Police Check, prior to appointment
A current Victorian driver’s licence
Working rights in Australia (visa, permanent resident, citizen)
