BLCAC is the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) representing the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation. We advocate for cultural heritage, land management, and community empowerment. Our work spans across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, and the Bass Coast, ensuring the voices and traditions of our ancestors continue to be recognised and respected.
About the Role
The Cultural Values Advisor plays a key role in delivering projects within the Cultural Values & Research Portfolio, including cultural values assessments, research, and reporting. You will work closely with the Bunurong community to document and protect Bunurong cultural heritage, and may also contribute to projects in the Language, Education, and On Country Design & Visual ID portfolios.
This is a diverse and meaningful role that combines research, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery — all within a culturally safe and supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake cultural values-based assessments, research, and reporting.
Facilitate respectful engagement, consultation, and collaboration with the Bunurong community.
Manage and deliver projects efficiently, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
Conduct research using community narratives, literature reviews, archives, and historical resources.
Maintain strong relationships with industry, government, research institutions, and community stakeholders.
Support the planning and delivery of Bunurong community events in collaboration with the Strong Country team.
Identify and report on relevant grant opportunities.
Ensure compliance with all organisational policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
Prepare accurate statistical and qualitative reports for internal and external stakeholders.
What You Bring
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications in one or more of the following disciplines - Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Geology, Heritage Planning, Linguistics, Cultural Heritage Management, Coastal Planning, or a related field.
2–5 years’ experience in delivering and documenting multi-faceted cultural values, heritage, or First Peoples community-based projects.
2–5 years’ experience working with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities.
Strong understanding of Victorian Government cultural heritage, land, water, coast, and marine policies as they relate to Traditional Owner Corporations.
High-level computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
Current VIC Driver Licence
Working with Children Check, and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation skills.
Innovative thinker with a commitment to ethical practice.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
Clear and respectful communicator, with a strong focus on cultural safety.
