You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience or ability to rapidly acquire skills to perform basic laboratory duties associated with Anatomical Pathology including handling biological specimens and preparation of basic chemical solutions.
- Demonstrated experience or ability to rapidly acquire skills in the interpretation of request forms together with ability to perform rapid and accurate data entry.
- Demonstrate high level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment, and to respond to enquiries and instruction by clients.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after appropriate training.
- Demonstrate time management skills, task prioritisation and surrounding workload awareness in order to meet service delivery deadlines.
- Effectively contribute to a safe & positive work environment and team culture
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- There are no mandatory requirements for this position, however previous experience working in a histology laboratory or with a laboratory information system (LIS) will be highly regarded.
- Candidates must be able to participate in a roster system, including evening shifts, weekends and overtime as required. Current laboratory hours fall between 0530-2300 Monday to Friday and 0600-1530 Saturday.
- In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24 hours shift or on-call arrangements.
