About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accommodation Team Leader with a great work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent leadership skills, to effectively manage our Council owned and operated accommodation facilities.

Based in Pormpuraaw (remote community on the western side of Cape York) this is a hands-on role where you will mentor and work closely with the accommodation team to provide a great guest experience.

Key Duties

Processing bookings, registering, and assigning guests to required accommodation facilities.

Keeping records of occupied rooms and guests' accounts, collating invoicing information on bookings.

Maintain a booking register spreadsheet for all guests including an internal booking register

Greet guests in a courteous, friendly, and respectful manner and accommodate guests by meeting and greeting guests upon arrival at the Council reception, airport, or other location as required

Develop and undertake monthly and annual maintenance checklists and ensure this is undertaken as scheduled, such as washing of windows, and external walls, furniture cleaning

Report and monitor any external maintenance requirements

Maintain minor materials/equipment supplies by developing a linen register and a store list for frequently ordered items, ensuring guest provisions were readily available

Oversee accommodation team members, provide relative on-the-job training, and monitor job performance.

Practicing and actively supporting Workplace Health and Safety policies, standards, and reporting requirements.

About you

Hold a current ‘C’ class license.

Previous accommodation or hospitality team leader experience

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Competent in word, excel and outlook

Understanding of workplace health and safety

Satisfactory police check

Must be able to lead and mentor staff
