Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

The Technology Services Division has an EL1 vacancy within the Agency ICT Services Branch.
The Agency ICT Services Branch supports all ICT systems and infrastructure excluding the primary business applications such as SAP CRM and Salesforce CRM.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Define and drive the strategic direction of cloud platform services aligned to the agency’s goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of cloud engineers and specialists.
- Assisting in budget planning and monitoring for cloud services, ensuring cost effective resource allocation.
- Guide the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud services across AWS and Azure.
- Ensure adherence to cloud best practices, compliance standards, and enterprise architecture.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, availability, performance, and cost efficiency of cloud platforms.
- Ensure all cloud services are thoroughly documented, and documentation is continuously updated.
- Communicate clearly with senior leadership, providing updates on cloud initiatives, risks and value delivery.
- Build strong relationships with all relevant stakeholders to foster an enabling culture across the agency.
- Ensure a timely response to incidents, outages, and performance degradation affecting cloud systems and services.

You’re a strategic leader with a strong background in cloud technologies and a passion for building high-performing teams. You know how to set a clear direction for cloud services that aligns with broader agency goals, and you’re confident guiding your team through complex technical challenges across AWS and Azure environments.
You bring experience in leading and mentoring cloud engineers and specialists, helping them grow while delivering reliable, secure, and scalable cloud solutions. You’re comfortable managing budgets and making smart decisions about resource allocation to ensure cost-effective outcomes.
You understand the importance of good governance - ensuring cloud services follow best practices, meet compliance standards, and align with enterprise architecture. You’re also hands-on when needed, overseeing day-to-day operations to maintain performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
You’re a clear communicator who can engage senior leadership with updates on cloud initiatives, risks, and value delivery. You also know how to build strong relationships across the agency, fostering a collaborative and enabling culture.
Finally, you’re proactive and calm under pressure, ready to respond quickly to incidents or performance issues, and committed to keeping documentation up to date so your team and stakeholders are always informed.

While this role is ideally performed from any NDIA office locations , remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
