Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

About the opportunity

This is an interim role for a 9 month period

The Deputy Package Director, Line wide and Operations will be responsible for supporting the Package Director in the management of the delivery of a major package of rail infrastructure and line wide systems, rolling stock and railway operations and maintenance related activities.

Reporting to the Package Director, Line wide and Operations, this role provides the required project management, technical, commercial and contractual input to the successful delivery of the scope of works being managed.

The role requires extensive expertise in large scale programs of rail infrastructure delivery through all project phases, from concept design through to handover. Specific expertise is desirable in rail systems, rolling stock, stabling facilities and associated rail operations and maintenance.

The role requires a sound knowledge of the Victorian rail industry including design, construction and commissioning and alliancing contracting models. It also requires the ability to build and maintain high-level influential relationships across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
