The Team:

Department of Critical Care (DCCM) provides intensive care and high dependency care in partnership with patients / consumers, their families and other health professionals. The unit values consumer focused care, clinical excellence, collaboration and communication. The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre. The Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) provides a tertiary level service, providing care for >1,400 patients annually. The DCCM provides complex and multidisciplinary care to a broad range of patients including cardiac and cardio-thoracic surgery; extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), neurosurgery, trauma, vascular surgery, burns, complex obstetrics and general medical and surgical. The Role: As a member of the Royal Hobart Hospitals DCCM's operational support team, the Support Services Officer (SSO): • Provides support services to ensure effective and efficient operation of DCCM. • Contributes to and participates as a member of the health team. • Decontaminates, sterilises and maintains specialised equipment. • Assists with manual handling of patients.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the cleanliness of equipment and the environment according to infection control principles, standards and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor equipment and stores levels and initiate appropriate action.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to work within manual handling guidelines and appropriate Work Health and Safety Legislation and codes of practice when positioning patients.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Location: Hobart, Tasmania

Salary: $63,110 to $66,049 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
