About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage an Environmental Officer. This position is located in their busy Deniliquin NSW location for an initial contract until 31/12/2025

Duties

• Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state (e.g., NSW EPA), and federal environmental regulations and approval conditions
• Review and monitor compliance with site Construction Environmental Management Plans in line with the department requirements
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and environmental monitoring (e.g., water quality, noise, dust) and report non-compliance or incidents
• Liaise with contractors, regulatory agencies and Traditional Owners to ensure environmental expectations are met
• Provide environmental induction and ongoing training to site personnel to promote best practices
• Key Challenges of the role:
  • Remote and regional locations of construction sites
  • Complex regulatory landscape
  • Environmental Sensitivity of construction sites, ie working near water bodies, wetlands, or culturally significant sites increases the risk and complexity of compliance

Requirements/Skills

• Inherent requirements of the role/ Essential Skills and Experience
• Field-Based Work: Regular travel to remote construction sites, often in challenging terrain and weather conditions.
• Physical Demands: Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking (sometimes) long distances and exposure to construction hazards.
• White Card, 4WD training, and environmental audit certification
