About Us:

Originally named The Wayside Foundation, The Ted Noffs Foundation was established in 1970 by the Australian humanitarian, Reverend Ted Noffs, and renamed in 1992 to honour his life’s work. The organisation’s early work pioneered efforts with young people facing issues such as drug addiction, homelessness, and crime. Today, Ted Noffs enduring legacy is one of compassion and courage, giving hope to countless young people.

The Ted Noffs Foundation remains committed to helping young people facing challenges related to drugs, crime, and mental health issues. We have a strong record of creating meaningful impact, running services across NSW, ACT, and QLD, with over 200 staff and nearly 350 volunteers dedicated to supporting disadvantaged young Australians.

The Role:

The Street Universities are non-residential treatment centres based throughout NSW, ACT and QLD that help those aged 12-25 with drug, crime and mental health issues. Each centre is unique and is a safe environment where young people can engage in workshops ranging from music and dance to computer coding. Evidence-based counselling is available to help our youth reduce their drug use and involvement in crime and to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

The Street University Manager, Mt Druitt, has a strong focus on supporting the team of clinicians to get the best treatment outcomes for the young people they work with. This role is perfectly suited for those wanting to step up and try their hand at managing a clinical team. The manager supervises multiple drug and alcohol counselling and case management outreach programs providing services across the Western Sydney region. The role involves oversight and coordination of a multidisciplinary team, site management and support for marginalised young people.

Responsibilities and Duties include but not limited to:

Lead a multidisciplinary team, including counsellors, case managers, engagement workers and outreach staff.

Provide leadership and strategic direction to the team, as well as overseeing the implementation of the day-to-day activities of the programs.

Ensure the services are delivered to the highest standards in accordance with agreed program plans and funding agreements.

Understand the community’s needs in respect to providing a beneficial and valuable service, including developing engagement programs to work with young people in AOD setting.

Provide supervision, guidance and support to a team of multi-located staff to ensure a cohesive client-focussed approach to service quality.

Stakeholder management and developing ongoing strategic sector and community relationships.

Monitor and ensure that all policies and procedures are followed by all staff and program participants.

Provide high quality reports and administrative documentation.

Provide oversight and direction to ensure that clients are receiving services that represent best practice.

Staff management including recruitment, personal and professional development and staff performance appraisals.

Maintain data collection systems, client record systems and financial systems.

Essential Selection Criteria:

Clinical Qualifications and experience. Eg. Counselling, Social Work, Social Sciences.

Demonstrated knowledge of good practice in working with young people with alcohol and/or other drug related difficulties.

Experience in supervision and support of counselling teams and services.

Ability to plan, develop and implement a variety of community-based projects, resource building group development and other means of clinical support.

Knowledge and experience of good counselling practice.

Familiar with the relevant issues presented in the locality.

Strong analytical, written and financial literacy skills with a proven ability to manage budget, analyse data and statistics, write complex reports and develop grant and funding submissions.

Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to form strategic sector and community relationships.

Commitment and capacity to implement and apply EEO, WHS policies, ethical practices, and the principles of cultural diversity.

Must hold and maintain a valid NSW Working With Children Check and Driver’s Licence.

About Ted Noffs Foundation

Caboolture, QLD, Australia

Originally named The Wayside Foundation, Noffs Foundation was founded in 1970 by the great Australian humanitarian, Reverend Ted Noffs and his wife Margaret Noffs.

During their remarkable careers of pioneering initiatives for young people, the Noffs established Sydney’s first crisis centre in 1968, set up the first Drug Referral Centre in Sydney in 1967, co-founded the Aboriginal Affairs Foundation in 1962 and co-founded Lifeline in 1963.

Ted’s son, Wesley and his wife Amanda Noffs took over the foundation after Ted suffered a stroke. They renamed the organisation, The Ted Noffs Foundation. Wesley and Amanda worked alongside academics to create the country’s first drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre for adolescents known as PALM. The community and government immediately supported the idea and the work of Noffs Foundation spread across Australia.
