Jenny’s Place offers a range of services to women and children including crisis accommodation, supported transitional accommodation, outreach homelessness support program, specialist workers children’s and young people program, and the Newcastle Domestic Violence Resource Centre (NDVRC).
About the opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and committed CALD Caseworker to join the Newcastle Domestic Violence Resource Centre (NDVRC). In this role you will support women and children experiencing or at risk of experiencing DFV by providing culturally appropriate, trauma informed and person-centred case management. This position is a full-time temporary contract to cover maternity leave.
Key responsibilities include
Deliver trauma informed, person centred case management that respects culture and builds respectful relationships with clients.
Collaborate with external agencies to develop and maintain partnerships to support referral pathways and advocacy for clients.
Support clients to establish safety and exit plans with appropriate safeguards in place to mitigate risk of harm.
Maintain written records of all client interactions, phone, written and in person using a client management system as the central record keeping tool for all client engagement.
About You
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build respectful and professional relationships.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
A strong understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred practice
Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or related field (Diploma level or higher)
This role is designated for a female under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act
A current NSW Driver's licence
Current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
A National Criminal History Check (police check)
