The role is perfect for someone eager to develop their career in accounting within a close-knit, supportive environment where every team member is valued. You will be part of a small, friendly group that prioritises both personal and professional development. The organisation offers an engaging workplace culture that rewards performance and encourages curiosity, making it an ideal setting for those who are passionate about finance and keen to make a meaningful impact.
What you'll do:
As a Graduate Accountant, you will immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations of the accounting team while gaining exposure to a wide range of financial processes. Your role will involve working alongside experienced professionals on everything from routine administration tasks to complex reporting obligations for both local and international stakeholders. You will play an integral part in maintaining accurate records, supporting audits, reviewing key financial documents prepared by external administrators, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities. In addition to core accounting duties, you will collaborate with colleagues across legal, investor relations, and corporate functions-broadening your experience while contributing meaningfully to the team's shared goals. Success in this position comes from your attention to detail, proactive approach to problem-solving, ability to communicate effectively with others, and genuine interest in being part of a values-driven company where everyone's input is appreciated.
- Work closely with the Senior Fund Accountant to perform daily accounting and administration tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all fund activities.
- Assist in the completion of Australian reporting requirements for various funds, collaborating with auditors to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Liaise with external fund administrators by sharing investment transaction information, reviewing quarterly net asset valuations, and assessing annual financial statements prepared by administrators.
- Conduct initial reviews of capital events such as capital calls and ad hoc distributions, ensuring all documentation is accurate and aligns with fund objectives.
- Undertake additional accounting responsibilities including budgeting, forecasting, and analysing fund performance to provide valuable insights for decision-making.
- Collaborate with other members of the Operations team to offer support across legal matters, investor relations, and corporate accounting functions as required.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and judgement when handling sensitive financial data or investor information.
- Contribute proactively to resolving queries by using initiative and seeking input from colleagues when necessary.
- Build strong relationships within the team by demonstrating excellent communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge.
- Support the overall success of the finance function by participating in continuous improvement initiatives and embracing new challenges.
What you bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or business provides you with the foundational knowledge needed for this role.
- Interest to study CA or CPA qualification
- Ideally 1-3 years' experience in financial accounting/fund accounting or administration services equips you with practical skills; however, any background in accounting or bookkeeping is welcomed if you bring the right attitude and work ethic.
- The ability to analyse data thoroughly allows you to identify trends, solve problems efficiently, and draw appropriate conclusions that benefit the wider team.
- Strong attention to detail ensures accuracy in all aspects of your work while upholding confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
- Excellent communication skills enable you to interact confidently with colleagues across different teams as well as external partners such as auditors or administrators.
- A proactive nature means you are comfortable using initiative to resolve queries independently while also knowing when to seek guidance from others.
- High emotional intelligence helps you build rapport within the team, fostering positive relationships based on trust and mutual respect.
- Interest in working within a small but highly engaged company shows your appreciation for environments where collaboration is key.
