The Opportunity:
- Full-Time | Ongoing contract of employment
- PW3 $60,416 - $65,237 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience)
- Chadstone and Drummond Street Campuses – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport
The Property Services Division (PSD) is entrusted with delivering comprehensive daily maintenance and cleaning services across all Holmesglen campuses. This includes ensuring that all campus facilities are consistently clean, well-maintained, and conducive to a productive and welcoming environment for both students and staff. The division plays a key role in maintaining the aesthetic and operational integrity of the campus, addressing any maintenance issues promptly, and overseeing routine cleaning schedules to support the health and wellbeing of the campus community.
This role is responsible for carrying out general maintenance of buildings and facilities across the Institute’s campus locations, in accordance with the Institute’s maintenance plan. The position supports the Facilities Manager and Assistant Facilities Manager in coordinating external maintenance service contractors to ensure high standards of service and compliance. It also involves regular liaison with internal stakeholders across departments and faculties to ensure the effective and timely delivery of maintenance services that support a safe and functional learning and working environment.
As a Maintenance Officer, you will:
- Perform a range of general maintenance services and ensure that all maintenance procedures and practices are consistent with Holmesglen, legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with Institute staff, contractors and the general public in relation to building maintenance requests and assist maintenance staff and service contractors to deliver routine or emergency maintenance action.
- Assess building maintenance requirements, review building conditions and assign maintenance requests accordingly.
- Assist the Team Leader and Maintenance Supervisor in the conduct of prescribed building audits.
- Process work requests and allocate tasks to ensure that maintenance works are signed off and completed to a high standard.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Certificate III or higher in a relevant building trade and relevant work experience.
- Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
- Valid and current driver’s licence.
- WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance and building practices and in implementing new technologies in the provision of maintenance services.
- Experience in a maintenance department or handy person role including maintenance of relevant equipment and property management.
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety requirements including manual handling techniques, working at heights and high risk permits in a construction environment.
