The Salary range for this position is currently $20.48 to 32.12 per hour. Hourly rate is based on experience.

Are you a trade-qualified professional with a passion for maintaining safe, welcoming environments for seniors? Churches of Christ is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Officer to join our Cheltenham team and help us deliver high-quality care through well-maintained facilities.

Why You’ll Love This Role or The Role

As a Maintenance Officer (Trade Qualified), you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our residential aged care and seniors living facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming. You’ll use your trade skills to carry out repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance, while also supporting grounds upkeep and assisting contractors on-site.

This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly contribute to the wellbeing of our residents and the smooth operation of our services.

You’ll be based in Cheltenham and required to travel between nearby sites (15–20 minutes apart), including Bethany Close, Grant Street, Emmaus Lodge, and Chesterville Retirement Village. A reliable vehicle is essential.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Perform general and trade-specific maintenance tasks across the facility.
  • Maintain grounds including mowing, pruning, and garden care.
  • Support preventative maintenance schedules and record-keeping.
  • Assist and supervise contractors, volunteers, and other maintenance staff.
  • Uphold safety standards and contribute to continuous improvement.


About You

You are a proactive and skilled tradesperson who takes pride in your work and enjoys being part of a supportive team. You’ll bring:

  • Relevant trade qualifications (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical).
  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in a maintenance or handyman role.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with asset management systems (desirable).
  • A current driver’s licence and ability to obtain required checks (Police, NDIS, vaccinations).

Experience in aged care or community services is highly regarded.
