The Cheesecake Shop is seeking a Full-Time Pastry Cook to join the team at our new location at Shop 5, 61 Morgan Street, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, 2650. This is a great, permanent opportunity to join a nationally loved brand, baking in-store and helping families in the local community celebrate life’s milestones.

Work hours will be 38 hours weekly [Monday to Friday]. You may be required to work in this role on public holidays and over Christmas. For the right candidate, the days and shift times may be open to negotiation.

Previous experience in baking cakes and pastries is preferred for this position. Candidates may be required to demonstrate their abilities through a work trial (any work trial requested will not exceed one shift in length). Training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities of Pastry Cook:

Cake and Pastry Preparation:

Prepare cakes, cake batters, and fillings.

Decorate cakes and create special order cakes in various sizes.

Store and display cakes correctly.

Select ingredients and prepare a variety of pastries, including puff pastry, éclairs, croissants, quiches, and shortbread.

Prepare fillings and decorations for pastries.

Store and display pastries appropriately.

General Baking Tasks:

Weigh, mix, knead, mature, cut, mold, and shape dough and pastry goods.

Prepare pastry fillings and glaze pastries and buns.

Decorate cakes with cream and icing.

Maintain and monitor oven temperatures.

Clean and grease trays and equipment.

Ensure the cleanliness of equipment and premises in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Check the quality of raw materials and accurately weigh ingredients.

Monitor product appearance to determine optimal baking times.

Coordinate the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and cooling of baked goods.

Operate machines for rolling, molding dough, and cutting biscuits.

Skills and Qualifications:

Certificate III in relevant work experience or Certificate IV.

A combination of qualification and experience is an advantage.

A minimum of two years of baking experience is required.

Strong attention to detail.

Knowledge of health and hygiene requirements.

Knowledge of Australian work safety standards.

Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.

Good time management and initiative skills.

Physical fitness.

Flexibility to work varying shifts.

Positive attitude.
