The role will consist of undertaking a varied range of Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) and Consultancy projects in the Oil & Gas, Renewable, Shipping and Defence sectors covering: offshore/marine transportations, heavy lift operations, load-out and installation of fixed and floating structures as well as subsea/pipeline/cable installation and Shipping/Defence related ship activities.
Key responsibilities and Duties
· Technical document reviews (procedure and analysis related to vessel load-out, sea transportation, offshore installation) including independent spreadsheets and hand calculations, management/technical meetings and site attendances with respect to Marine Warranty Services and/or Owner Engineering requirements.
· Carry out mechanical design reviews, including technical drawings and calculations and Engineering related reviews. Evaluate and prepare concept selection reports and basis for design.
· Carry out HAZIDs / HAZOPs prior to operation to close out any risks and hazards identified throughout project planning stages.
· Carry out inspections and assessments of hull integrity, propulsion systems, steering gear, and auxiliary machinery for improvements.
· Support incident investigations related to hull and / or machinery failures.
· Handle, support and investigate P&I claims including personal injury, illness, pollution, collision, and cargo damage.
· Liaise with P&I clubs, legal counsel, surveyors, and port agents to coordinate claim responses and documentation.
· Manage ongoing Marine Warranty Survey projects, studying project functional statements, organisational charts and project information to determine functions and responsibilities and to identify areas of duplication or improvements.
· Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the agreed project technical standards, current industry codes classification rules and regulations and meet client contract requirements.
· Responsible for deliverables to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to customers within the time frame, costs, HSE and in accordance with the quality standards established by ABL and/or the Client
· Shipping and vessel sustainment mechanical engineering support (maintenance of plant and equipment, and coordinating the requirements for new designs, surveys and maintenance schedules)
· Attend both onshore & offshore to witness and approve marine operational procedures on behalf of underwriters as Marine Warranty Survey
· Attend both onshore & offshore to witness and approve marine operational procedures and analyses for class and flag.
· Produce professional quality Engineering & Surveyor attendance and reports as required.
· Design and oversee the mechanical construction and repair of marine crafts, floating structures and various internal vessel systems such as HVAC.
· Developing specifications for manufacture, and determining materials, equipment, piping, material flows, capacities and layout of vessel, plant and systems.
· Prepare design concepts, analyses, and detail, for various offshore structures and self-propelled vessels in accordance with international codes and standards.
· Carry out Third-Party Vendor Audits for clients.
· Attend regular internal meetings and external / third party meetings as required.
· Ensure all deliverables are carried out in accordance with ABL policies and procedures.

Specific Requirements
Primarily office based but requirement for onsite and offshore attendance and time with clients.
Qualifications
Essential:
· Accredited Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Desirable:
· OPITO BOSIET (with CA-EBS)
· Confined Space Entry
· IMechE Pump Fundamentals Course
· STCW Personal Survival Techniques
· STCW First Aid
Work experience
Essential:
· Minimum 4 years' Marine / Oil and Gas industry
· Sound knowledge of Marine industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards to structural analysis & designs Full understanding of classification societies and their design requirements
Desirable:
· Decommissioning
· Piping specification
· Marine Warranty Experience for Roll-on/Roll-off operations
· Oil and Gas, Renewables or Marine Experience
· Shipyard Experience
·Experience in the APAC region
Technical Skills
Essential:
· Spatial awareness with the ability to demonstrate skilled knowledge in analysing, technical solutions
· Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices. Working knowledge of basic principles of design, systems design and installation, mathematics
· Ability to select and apply standard guides, methods, and techniques
· Computer literate with practical experience in Structural Analysis of marine and/or offshore structures
Desirable:
· Member / Associate Member of an Engineering Institution
