JOB TITLE: Executive Coordination & Governance Lead – CEO Office
LOCATION: Warrnambool, Victoria
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 1.0 FTE, 24 months, Full-time
SALARY: $110,000 to $115,000 per annum + super
REPORTS TO: CEO
DIRECT REPORTS: 1
IDENTIFICATION: Not a Designated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander appointment

About the Organisation

The Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA) requires that, following a native title determination, native title holders establish a Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) to manage and protect their rights and interests. These corporations must incorporate under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act) and register with the National Native Title Tribunal (NNTT). Once registered, they become a Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC).

Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC) was established in 2011 as a PBC following a positive consent determination by the Federal Court, covering an area known as PART B—from Deen Maar (Lady Julia Percy Island) to Dunkeld—shared with the Western Gunditjmara People, represented by Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.

In 2023, a second determination expanded EMAC’s jurisdiction from Yambuk to Aireys Inlet, reaching Middle Creek and Ararat, and looping south to Dunkeld.

EMAC is a formally recognised Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP), with responsibilities for protecting and managing cultural heritage across a broader area extending to Winchelsea and Landsborough.

As the representative body for Eastern Maar citizens, EMAC leads the advancement of native title rights and interests, cultural heritage protection, high-quality policy advice, and initiatives aligned with the inherent rights, aspirations, and independence of its people.

This is a new role at EMAC that supports both the CEO and the Board, reporting directly to the CEO and sitting within the Office of the CEO.

Who we are looking for

EMAC is looking for an Executive Coordination and Governance Lead to join Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC) in a newly created role that supports both the CEO and the Board.

This is not a traditional Executive Assistant role. Instead, it blends high-level executive coordination with strategic governance support — helping the CEO and Board maintain momentum, focus, and alignment across EMAC’s priorities and operations.

Sitting within the Office of the CEO and reporting directly to the CEO, the role acts as a central point of coordination and strategic interface. You’ll work across EMAC’s internal teams, community, and external partners to ensure matters requiring CEO or Board input are surfaced, progressed, and documented with clarity.

What you'll be doing

On a day-to-day basis:

Coordinate and support the CEO’s engagements, correspondence, and high-level meetings.

Draft and manage governance materials including agendas, board papers, decision registers, and action logs.

Provide clear and concise briefings, discussion papers, and formal communications that reflect the CEO’s intent and EMAC’s position.

Track strategic and operational matters requiring CEO or Board oversight — ensuring issues are triaged, clarified, and moved towards resolution.

Liaise across internal teams to align executive workflows with organisational priorities.

Ensure compliance with relevant governance frameworks, legislation, and internal protocols.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who:

Thinks strategically and sees connections across the organisation.

Writes clearly and with purpose — from meeting records to discussion papers.

Works confidently with governance documents, frameworks and compliance processes.

Can triage, shape, and progress issues across a range of priorities.

Brings excellent judgement and discretion to working closely with the CEO, Board, community and external partners.

Is trusted to manage sensitive matters, act with integrity, and engage across senior levels.

About You

This role requires a calm, capable operator with excellent judgement and strong writing skills. You don’t need to have done this exact role before — but you’ll likely have experience supporting a senior leader, managing sensitive information, and contributing to executive-level decision-making. You can write like a policy advisor, spot gaps and bottlenecks before they escalate, and carry yourself with credibility in formal settings and community spaces alike.
