About the role
With a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape sustainable traffic and transport outcomes for the Inner West community. You will lead the end-to-end process of traffic and parking initiatives from investigation and planning through to concept development, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and administration.
Your work will directly contribute to Council’s Community Strategic Plan, addressing key social, environmental, economic, and governance objectives. You will manage a diverse program of projects, ensuring timely approvals and smooth progression through each phase of delivery.
As a proactive and solutions-focused professional, you will collaborate across the Service Unit and Council to resolve complex challenges and develop innovative transport solutions. Your commitment to excellence will ensure your work consistently meets performance targets and aligns with Council’s operational and strategic priorities.

Remuneration
$86,282.04 - $123,173.96 + 12% Superannuation + Civil Liability Allowance (subject to eligibility)
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering, traffic engineering, or appropriate equivalent, recognised by relevant Australian professional institute.
- Capable of developing ‘best practice’ traffic engineering and parking solutions to contemporary industry standards, codes, technical directions and legislation, in complex urban environments, with the capacity for innovative thinking.
- Project management and consultant management skills.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills (written & oral) together with proven ability for negotiation and conflict resolution. Ability to engage staff and stakeholders and work collaboratively. Ability to represent Council to external organisations, customers and members of the public.
- Strong customer service ethic.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully self-manage work to achieve goals and objectives.
- Current NSW Class C Driver’s License.
Desirable Criteria:
- Demonstrated appreciation of the complexity of Local Government, in particular the social, political and legal frameworks within which it operates.
- Understanding of or experience with the Australian Business Excellence framework or experience in development and execution of improvement initiatives or continuous improvement.
- Considerable experience in an urban, traffic engineering environment.
