About the Role:
We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join the Fruit Fly Response Team in Barmera. As a Fruit Fly Controller, you will play a vital role in the detection, control, and eradication of fruit fly outbreaks within the Riverland region. This field-based role involves surveillance, trapping, baiting, fruit collection, and treatment activities.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience in horticulture and/or customer service
• Full working rights, with no restrictions
• Current driver's licence + reliable transport
• Current Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and in a team
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and adhere to departmental guidelines

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine surveillance and trapping of fruit fly
• Deploy and maintain fruit fly traps across designated zones
• Assist in the application of sport baiting and treatment protocols
• Collect and handle host fruit for inspection and diagnostics
• Accurately complete field reports and data recording
• Communicate with landowners and community members respectfully and professionally
